The focus of the residency was to explore my relationship with natural darkness.
Having access to dark skies helps to shape my thinking about the incomprehensibly old age of our planet. Whilst looking out into the night I find myself thinking about how each minute and hour has passed, how Earth has continuously rolled into darkness and into the light, how our Solar System has moved through the Milky Way for seemingly endless periods of geologic history. My sound and photographic installation explores the formation and development of our landscapes over billions of years, inviting the viewer to shift their thinking from ‘landscape to planet’.
